What Fuels Me?
Here are a few facts about me, what inspired me to start my business, what fuels my love of small businesses and social media.
I live in State College Pennsylvania. A big town with a small community feel. State College is the home to 300+ small businesses, a world-renowned University, rated one of the best adventure towns and best places to retire in the United States.
I love small businesses and non-profits.
My business grew out of my love of organizing non-profit events for Alzheimer’s Association. I’m a tech nerd and started using social media to market and advertise fundraising events, it worked. I discovered the power and potential of social media to connect with our community, and loved it.
In addition to Alzheimer’s Association, I volunteer as a Certified Mentor at our local SCORE chapter. Working with other mentors we help startups, small businesses, and nonprofits develop skills for building a strong business foundation, how to use technology, like social media, to connect their business with their target customers.
Networking is key to growing your business. One of my favorite networking sites is Meetup. As an organizer of the Meetup Women in Transition a group of 50 members, we network monthly, sharing our talents, wisdom, and life experiences.
I love business processes!
My career as business analyst at a major US Defense Contractor spanned 32 years. I learned the importance of a great business foundation, business processes, hard work, and innovative solutions leading to success. Learn more about my business career on LinkedIn.
But it doesn’t stop there!
I’m a tech geek.
My first experience with technology was in 1997 when I taught myself HTML coding and developed a personal website (which is still running today!) I was hooked on technology and power of connecting with the world via social networks. My first social platform was the original Myspace.
I love travel and adventure.
One of the best ways to connect with people is travel. I’ve been fortunate to experience the cultures of Japan, Germany, England, Austria, Mexico, and the lovely Caribbean islands. Making connections beyond social media, gives you valuable insight about people and provides adventures beyond your small screen!
I stay focused by…
By taking breaks when my brain is overloaded, walking in my favorite place, Millbrook Marsh; playing with my personal assistant, my Australian Shepherd Tillie, and practicing daily meditation.
